How does fuel injection work?
The fuel injection system in your car, truck or SUV is complex. Fortunately, here at RepairTech Automotive and DIY, our team of ASE Certified technicians is well versed in fuel injection repair and much more.
In order for your vehicle's engine to run smoothly, it needs to be provided with the proper ratio of fuel to air. A fuel injector is an electronically controlled valve that supplies fuel from the fuel pump to the vehicle's engine. The fuel injector is capable of opening and closing multiple times a second. When the injector is activated, an electromagnet moves a plunger that opens the valve, allowing pressurized fuel to squirt out through a tiny nozzle. The nozzle is designed to make the fuel as fine a mist as possible so that it can burn easily. The fuel injector is controlled by the vehicle's engine control unit or ECU. While small, the fuel injectors in your car are a critical component. Without them, or if they are malfunctioning, you are going to experience major drivability problems.
How do I know if my vehicle needs a fuel injection repair?
Whether it's you Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, or something else, the signs of a damaged or dirty fuel injector are the same. A faulty fuel injector will disrupt, or disable the intervals in which fuel is sprayed or will prevent fuel from being sprayed into the engine altogether. In some cases, a fuel injector may be clogged, and just need a thorough cleaning, and in other cases, the entire injector needs to be replaced. At RepairTech Automotive and DIY, we offer fuel injection cleaning & replacement, along with a transparent process so you're aware of what we are doing, and why we are doing it. In addition to fuel injection repair, we also offer services in Maintenance Service and Repair, scheduled maintenance, and tune-ups, and Diagnostics and Repair.

Every auto manufacturer goes through a fuel economy test conducted by the EPA to get an estimated mileage for every model, every year. The estimated fuel economy for your car, truck, or SUV can be found in the owner's manual, on the window sticker from when you bought it, or from a plethora of sites online. If you're unable to find it ask us, we can help. If your car is not getting as many miles per gallon as it once did, there may be an issue with your fuel injector.
There are many reasons for falling fuel economy aside from a clogged or failed fuel injector. Some of them are:
Driving habits: A lead foot will cause your fuel economy to decrease. Try easing up on the gas pedal, and seeing if your fuel economy increases.
Tire inflation: If your tires are overinflated, or underinflated, your vehicle may perform poorly in regards to fuel economy.
Fuel system issues: A faulty fuel injector or other issues with the overall fuel system can cause your MPG to start dwindling
